My beliefs...
I have many strong traditional values
(which could mean a lot of things) and try
to be as friendly as possible, so if you can't
find an answer or response here, please
feel free to contact me via email if you have
anything you'd like to say.

Latest Happenings
Hi there, my name is Charlie Mato-Toyela and I
have been making and playing all types of North
and South American Indigenous flutes for over 16
years now. I tend to specialize in the Cherokee
and South Eastern flutes, but I enjoy playing and
creating them all! A brief bio is available here.
My little helper-7 year old son River. If you
purchase one of my flutes, chances are
River helped make it, or could have done
it all by his self.
About My Flutes:
Many people ask me in what key do I tune my flute(s). This
question can best be answered by another question, what type of
flute did you want again? Not to be rude, but if traditional Native
American Flute is what you are looking for, you are in luck! I do
tune my flutes by ear--the way that many have been doing it for
thousands of years. I have a very good ear, too! The only flutes that
I know which keys or notes correspond to are ones that I have
personally used in recording and have had to know. However, I
did not originally tune them to these "European Keys/Scales",
otherwise it would ruin what the flute is and represents. With
practice and determination, you can play a chromatic scale on any
of them but would you really want to? Well maybe sometimes, but
maybe I want my piano to be tuned to 336-A! :)
If you have any further questions or comments, as always, please
feel free to email me.
Thank You,
Charlie Mato-Toyela
